Members of the Culinary Heritage Network – the ‘’Latgalian kukņa’’ is located in Ludza Craftsman Centre (founded in 2006) with the aim to preserve the Latgalian craft skills and traditions. Ludza Craftsman Center organizes fairs, various events related to crafts and Latgalian traditions. The most popular ones – The Grand Latgalian fair at hillfort before summer solstice Līgo, skills’ schools, various exhibitions.
Ludza Craftsman Centre offers skills’ schools on the preparation of traditional Latgalian dishes, inquiring about secrets of ancient recipes, as well as Latgalian life traditions. Latgalian lunch for pre-booked groups. Pre-registration is obligatory.
Special offer: „Fresh or sour cabbage soup with lamb and Ludza porridge”.
Recipe. Put meat with bones in a saucepan to boil, add cut cabbage. In the end, add potatoes cut into small cubes, salt, pepper and other seasonings and boil until ready; separate meat from the bones, chop it and but back in the soup. Serve with rye bread and sour cream.
