The largest Šmakovka Museum in Latvia, also known as the Latgale Culinary Heritage Centre “Šmakovka”, offers a modern and engaging story about this traditional strong drink of Latgale.

The Daugavpils Šmakovka exhibition is the largest and most modern exhibition in Latvia dedicated to this culinary heritage drink. Visitors can explore the culture and traditions of Daugavpils and the Latgale region, view authentic distillation equipment, and learn about the process of making šmakovka.

Admission tickets:

  • Adults – EUR 6.00 per person
  • Pupils, students, seniors, persons with disabilities – EUR 3.00 per person
  • Family ticket (1–2 adults and at least one child under 18) – EUR 3.00 per person
  • Guided tour (1 hour) – EUR 16.00
  • Audio guide (Latvian, Latgalian, Lithuanian, English, German, Russian) – EUR 2.00
  • Quest “Secrets of Latgale Šmakovka” – EUR 8.00 per person

Free admission:

  • During the annual international event “Museum Night”
  • Members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) (with valid card)
  • Employees of Latvian museums (with ID)
  • Persons with Group I disability and their companion; persons with Group II disability
  • Official delegations and guests of the Daugavpils municipality
  • Preschool children

Šmakovka tastings:

Tastings are provided by the farm “Sēlija” from Laucesa Parish, Augšdaugava Municipality.
For EUR 1.50, visitors can taste one type of šmakovka; for EUR 3.00 – three different varieties.

Please note that from 1 November to 31 March, the museum is closed on Mondays.
