The first known Baltinava Catholic church was built in the 17th century, it was a wooden church, located 2,6 km from Baltinava, in Keišu village. The second wooden church was built in Baltinava in the 18th century. The church was located in front of a nowadays stone church, an altar was in the place of present churches tower.
Third Baltinava church is built from stones. Construction works went for 22 years, a foundation stone was laid in 1909, the church was consecrated in 1931.
In church can be found ancient sacred artworks. The oldest one is a painting of the Virgin Mary, dated by the 17th century. It was painted on leather, which was stretched over a wooden base. This painting comes from the first wooden church and has been preserved till nowadays.
In the present church are deployed wooden figures of apostle Peter, Paul, John and Andrew, the age of these wooden figures are around 300 years.

The church is a national architectural monument.
