The Happiness Museum in Indra is one of Latvia’s gifts for its centenary. Its interactive exhibition invites everyone to act, feel, think, and look towards the future rather than the past. The museum’s goal is not to answer the question “What is happiness?” but to inspire positive emotions, evoke experiences, create, motivate, and allow each visitor to find their own answer to this timeless question – what truly is happiness?

The Happiness Museum and its exhibitions are arranged along several Happiness Trails: “Sports and Work Trail,” “Men’s Trail,” “Women’s Trail,” “Bright Trail,” “Musical Trail,” “Creative Trail,” “Patriotic Trail,” “High Trail,” “Tasty Trail – or Happiness in Eating!,” “Superstition Trail,” and “Your Happy Photo.” The Happiness Museum is an unusual place; here you won’t find standard static exhibitions – instead, it is full of active participation, engagement, and sparkling joy.

Indra attracts an increasing number of visitors, and for them, a surprise has been created – the Indra Craftsmen’s Room. Here, visitors can explore the works of local artisans and purchase unique souvenirs. The Craftsmen’s Room was developed with the help of the local parish master team.

2023 NEW! The Happiness Museum in Indra has introduced a new programme for visitors – “My Grandmother’s Dish Cabinet,” located at 3 Krāslavas Street, Indra. During the tour, visitors will see a unique collection of Rīga porcelain – over 1,000 items.

The museum director will explain the history of Rīga porcelain, popular dish sets, factory ceramics, and how the collection was assembled. A practical activity will also be offered – visitors can choose their preferred teapot and, using about 20 offered herbs, prepare a tea that enhances happiness and well-being. The programme concludes with a tea tasting. Duration: approximately 1 hour.

For people with visual impairments, the Happiness Museum in Indra has created a special exhibition, “Invisible Happiness.” During the visit, visually impaired guests can independently explore the museum’s history and the offered paths to happiness with the help of an audio guide, while also engaging in creative activities and making souvenir items. The museum is also equipped with a tactile map to help visitors with visual impairments navigate the space more easily.
