Lake Stropu (Great Stropu Lake) is the largest body of water in Daugavpils and attracts a large number of visitors during the summer season. The central beach of the lake is awarded the international Blue Flag by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) every year, indicating high standards of cleanliness, safety, and well-developed infrastructure.

The central beach area is equipped with various recreational facilities – a pedestrian promenade for walking, illuminated during the dark hours of the day, an asphalted cycling path, and an outdoor fitness area with exercise equipment for active lifestyle enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy a free beach volleyball court, changing cabins, benches, parking, and sanitary facilities. A beach café is also available, offering cold drinks and ice cream.

A unique floating pontoon complex is available at the central beach, consisting of a “lake promenade”, a 25-metre open-air swimming pool with four lanes, a diving tower, and a children’s pool with a relaxation area equipped with sunshades and loungers, all free of charge. The lakeshore is shallow, and a playground has been created near the beach. Children can enjoy various play structures, slides, and swings.

Nearby, active recreation lovers can rent electric scooters, e-bikes, and go-karts from “e-bike”. Go-karts are available for both adults and children from the age of three. Sports equipment rental for SUP boarding is also offered.

Next to Lake Stropu are the “Chill&Grill” campsite and the adventure park “Daugavpils Tarzāns”. The Stropi forest, an active recreation and sports track, and the Stropi open-air stage are also located nearby.

The central beach of Lake Stropu is located 8 km from the city centre of Daugavpils. The most convenient way to get there is by car, tram No. 3 (stop “Stropu ezers”), or buses No. 3 and 12 (stop “Internātskola”). Public transport timetables are available here.

The central beach can also be reached by bicycle via regional cycling route No. 35 “Daugavas loki”, which is fully marked with appropriate signs. Bicycle parking is available at the beach.
